05/17 – ETF Trading – SPY, SSO, XLF, UYG

Good morning. I have a couple of etf trading ideas for today. We’ll take up to 3 trading positions.

Put SPY on your etf watch list. Take an initial position should this etf close lower today. For a leveraged trade, consider SSO.

Also, for a sector play, put XLF on your watch list. For the leveraged trade, consider UYG. Take an initial position should these close lower today.

SPY – The SPDR® S&P 500® ETF is a fund that, before expenses, generally corresponds to the price and yield performance of the S&P 500 Index.

SSO – ProShares Ultra S&P500 seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of the S&P 500® Index.

XLF – The Financial Select Sector SPDR® Fund, before expenses, seeks to closely match the returns and characteristics of the Financial Select Sector Index.

UYG – ProShares Ultra Financials seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Financials IndexSM.

All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly. These etfs are moving closer to their 200 day moving averages – trading can be a bit more erratic.

Join me every day as I offer new etf trading ideas for you to follow.

04/30 – ETF Trading – EWH / Gains on XLF, UYG

Nice gains on the financial trade! Our etf exit signals were triggered for XLF and UYG. We gained 3.76% on XLF and 6.89% on UYG. All in a 2 day trade!

All trades were at the market close. Updated charts are posted below.

We’re still waiting for our exit signals to trigger for EWH. Sell EWH at the market close when the etf price is greater than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

I have no other etf trading opportunities to suggest for today. The broader market is now over bought with yesterday’s rally – a stock market pull-back will trigger some new etf trading signals.

04/29 – ETF Trading – EWH, XLF, UYG

Stocks rebounded yesterday, but not enough to trigger our exit signals. We have a full trading positions in EWH and our first trading position in XLF and/or UYG. Our etf entry signal for SPY / SSO did not trigger.

For EWH, we’ll patiently wait for our etf exit signals to trigger. Our exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than its MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

For XLF / UYG, scale into a second position should these close lower than our initial entry price. Or, exit the trade at the market close when the etf price is greater than its MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

Updated charts are posted below. All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.
