05/17 – ETF Trading – SPY, SSO, XLF, UYG

Good morning. I have a couple of etf trading ideas for today. We’ll take up to 3 trading positions.

Put SPY on your etf watch list. Take an initial position should this etf close lower today. For a leveraged trade, consider SSO.

Also, for a sector play, put XLF on your watch list. For the leveraged trade, consider UYG. Take an initial position should these close lower today.

SPY – The SPDR® S&P 500® ETF is a fund that, before expenses, generally corresponds to the price and yield performance of the S&P 500 Index.

SSO – ProShares Ultra S&P500 seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of the S&P 500® Index.

XLF – The Financial Select Sector SPDR® Fund, before expenses, seeks to closely match the returns and characteristics of the Financial Select Sector Index.

UYG – ProShares Ultra Financials seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Financials IndexSM.

All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly. These etfs are moving closer to their 200 day moving averages – trading can be a bit more erratic.

Join me every day as I offer new etf trading ideas for you to follow.

04/28 – ETF Trading – EWH, XLF, UYG, SPY, SSO

With yesterday’s market sell-off, we now have 3 trading positions in EWH and our first trading positions in XLF and/or UYG.

For EWH, we’ll just wait for our etf exit signals to trigger. Our exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than its MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

Scale into a second position should XLF and/or UYG move lower today. Or, exit the trade at the market close when the etf price is greater than its MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

Updated charts are posted below. All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.

Put SPY on your etf watch list today. Take an initial trading position should SPY close lower today. For a leveraged trade, consider SSO.

SPY – The investment seeks to correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the S&P 500 Index.

SSO – The investment seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, which correspond to twice the daily performance of the S&P 500 index.

Have questions about the signals? Learn all the etf trading signals in the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading. His etf trading strategies have only a few rules and you’ll be able to back-test and apply the strategies to the next trading day. With easy to follow signals, clear explanations, and years of tested results, there is no better place to start finding new trading edges than in High Probability ETF Trading.

All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly!

04/19 – ETF Trading – IYR, URE, SPY, SSO

Strong selling on Friday. IYR closed lower on Friday and you took your first position in the etf trade. For the leveraged etf trade, you took your first position in URE. Updated charts are posted below.

We’ll scale in with up to three 3 positions. So, take a second trading position should IYR close lower today – the same for URE. Otherwise, our exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

With all the strong selling on Friday, etf trading signals triggered for many etfs. Put SPY on your etf watch list. Take an initial position should this etf close lower today. For a leveraged trade, consider SSO.
