11/19 – ETF Trading – Gain on SPY, SSO

A nice little gain on our S&P 500 etf trade – our exit signals for SPY triggered with yesterday’s rally and we took a gain of 1.52%. The leveraged etf trade in SSO yielded a gain of 3.12% – all in a 2 day trade.

We didn’t have a full trading position for this trade, but we still had a winning trade. Our goal is to produce more winning trades versus losing trades. On that goal, we’re on track. We have made 31 winning trades out of 39 for the year. That’s a winning percentage of nearly 80%.

I have no etf trading opportunities to suggest today. Let’s take the holiday week off and we’ll pick up the trading again on November 29. Have a great weekend and a great Thanksgiving holiday!

A great gift idea for stock traders – get the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading. His etf trading strategies have just a few simple rules and you’ll be able to back-test and apply the strategies to the next trading day. Get your copy today and be ready for the next trading session.

11/18 – ETF Trading – SPY, SSO

We did not take a second position in our etf trade as SPY closed just a bit higher yesterday. The small gain was not enough to trigger our exit signals. An updated chart is posted below.

We may take up to a total of 3 trading positions over the next couple of days. To review, our first position is 1/6 of our total trading amount. Our second position is 1/3 of our total trading amount. Our third trading position is 1/2 of our total trading amount.

Take a second trading position should SPY close lower than 118.16.

Otherwise, our exit signals for SPY are triggered when the closing price for SPY is higher than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

For SSO, follow the trading signals for SPY. All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.

11/17 – ETF Trading – SPY, SSO

SPY closed lower yesterday and you took your first long position in the etf trade. An updated chart is posted below.

As we discussed yesterday, we’ll scale in with up to three 3 positions. So, take a second trading position should SPY close lower today. Otherwise, our exit signals for SPY are triggered when the etf price is greater than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70. We’ll use the latter.

For the leveraged trade in SSO, follow the trading signals for SPY.

All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.
