04/12 – ETF Trading – Loss on FXY

Our etf exit signal finally triggered for our trade in FXY. Unfortunately we took a loss of 1.27% in the trade.

Our goal is to produce more winning trades versus losing trades. On that goal, we’re on track. Including the loss on this trade, we still have made 40 winning trades out of 50 trades in the last 12 months. That’s a winning percentage of 80%. You can review all of our trades by month.

I have no etf trading opportunities to suggest today. We’ll wait for a broader market trend to offer new etf trading opportunities.

Learn more about the etf trading strategies we use here. They’re in the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading. His etf trading strategies have just a few simple rules and you’ll be able to back-test and apply the strategies to the next trading day. Get your copy today and be ready for the next trading session.

04/11 – ETF Trading – FXY

FXY closed higher on Friday, but not enough to trigger our exit signals. We have a full trading position and are patiently waiting for our exit signals to trigger. Trading so close to the 200 day moving average makes for some choppy trading. Keep your seatbelts fastened!

Our exit signals are triggered when the closing price for FXY is higher than it’s 5 day moving average, or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI 2 is greater than 70. We’re using the latter signal.

All etf trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.

04/06 – ETF Trading – FXY

We’re patiently waiting for our etf exit signals to trigger. FXY closed lower yesterday and it looks like our trade is falling apart. Be patient, dear trader.

So why haven’t we placed a stop on this trade? Larry Connors has an excellent article about stops, along with some additional research. In it he says, “Stops do nothing to protect you from overnight risk and they also tend to stop traders out before reversals occur, therefore accumulating losses upon losses.” Read more here.

Our exit signals are triggered when the closing price for FXY is higher than it’s 5 day moving average, or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI 2 is greater than 70. We’re using the latter signal.

All etf trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly.
