12/15 – ETF Trading – No Trades Today

I have no etf trades to suggest today. The broader market fell yesterday, keeping SPY in an over-sold trading condition – see the RSI 2 in the updated chart posted below.

Since SPY and other index etfs are now trading below their 200 day moving averages, our etf trading signals are weighted toward making short trades. We’ll make no long trade for any etf below its 200 day moving average.

In the meantime, get a quick lesson on how to become a high probability trader in this article by Larry Connors. In it, he talks about his TPS trading strategy. TPS stands for Time, Price and Scale and has been the backbone of our ETF trading.

Get all the details of TPS trading and other etf swing trading strategies in the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading. His TPS trading strategy has only a few rules and you’ll be able to back-test and apply the strategy on the next trading day.  See our results using these strategies.

12/14 – ETF Trading – No Trades Today

I have no trades to recommend today. The broader market closed lower yesterday and is now residing in an over-sold condition. We’re looking for an over-bought condition to trigger our short selling signals.

Our etf trading signals are now weighted toward shorting etfs since SPY and other index etfs are trading below their 200 day moving averages. Consequently, we’ll make no long trades for any etf below its 200 day moving average.

As part of our trading execution, we won’t take just one trading position. Depending on the market action, we’ll make additional trades – scaling in to the trade – with up to 3 to 4 additional positions. Larry Connors has a great summary of our trading execution which you can review here.

Discover all of the etf trading strategies used here at ETF Stock Trading in the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading. His etf trading strategies have only a few rules and you can back-test and apply the strategies on the next trading day. 12/13 – ETF Trading – No Trades Today

The markets closed lower yesterday with SPY moving closer to an over-sold position – see the RSI 2 in the updated chart for SPY below. We’re waiting for a market correction and a move to an over-bought condition in order to make a short trade.

Our etf trading signals are now weighted toward shorting etfs since SPY and other index etfs are now trading below their 200 day moving averages. Why is that important? David Penn of TradingMarkets.com discusses the importance of the 200 day moving average in this article.

So, we’ll patiently wait for a stock market rally to trigger our short selling trading signals.

12/12 – ETF Trading – No Trades Today

I have no trades to recommend for today. The broader market is in neutral territory (see the updated chart for SPY below and notice the RSI 2). And because the broader market is below its 200 day moving average, we’ll wait for a day or 2 of higher closes to trigger some new etf short trading signals. Our etf trading signals are now weighted toward shorting etfs since SPY and other index etfs are now trading below their 200 day moving averages.

Why trade etfs? John Nyaradi, in an article at TradingMarkets.com, shares his 8 Reasons to Trade ETFS and what they can do for your stock trading portfolio. You won’t ever buy another mutual fund!

12/09 – ETF Trading – Gain on SPY, SH, SDS

We took a small gain on our short trade in SPY. Our exit signal triggered with yesterday’s sell-off and we took a small gain of .67% at the close. The inverse trades in SH and SDS yielded gains of .47% and .95% repsectively – not quite the gains like we had from our short trade 9/22, but gains nevertheless.
