12/17 – ETF Trading – USO, UCO, FXI

Oil moved higher yesterday, and so did our etf trades in USO (and UCO). Our exit signals were triggered as the RSI(2) of the closing price moved above 70. We had a gain of .75% in USO, excluding trading costs. UCO broke even.

We took a third trading position in FXI as it moved lower yesterday. We’ll patiently wait for the market to correct and trigger our exit signals.

Our etf exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70; we’ve been using the latter. All trades are at the market close.

12/16 – ETF Trading – USO, UCO, FXI

The major market indices moved lower yesterday and so did FXI. Add a third trading position should FXI close lower today. Our exit signal is triggered when the RSI(2) of the closing price is greater than 70.

Despite the lackluster market yesterday, USO (and UCO) moved higher with the closing price finishing above the 5 day moving average. The MA(5) exit signal resulted in a losing trade. However, our exit signal is triggered when the RSI(2) of the closing price is greater than 70. We’ll follow the trade to it’s conclusion.

12/15 – ETF Trading – USO, UCO, FXI

Markets moved higher yesterday, and so did our etf trades – if ever so slightly. We’re trading USO (and UCO) and FXI.

Our exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than it’s 5 day moving average, or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70.

FXI did move above it’s 5 day moving average for a gain of almost .5% – not a great gain, but a gain, nevertheless. We’ll follow the trade until the RSI(2) of the closing price is greater than 70.

All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly!

12/14 – ETF Trading – USO, UCO, FXI

We have full trading positions for USO (and UCO). FXI moved higher on Friday. As such, we did not take a third trading position in FXI.

So, we’ll just exercise some patience as we wait for the market to move higher from here. Futures are pointing higher this morning.

Our exit signals are triggered when the etf price is greater than it’s MA(5), or – for a potentially larger gain – when the RSI(2) is greater than 70. All trades are at the market close. Please trade responsibly!
