ETF Trading – USO, SCO

As I read the market news this morning, oil is up to nearly $65.

Put USO on your watch list today. You may consider taking the first short position today should it close higher than Friday’s close.

You can also short USO by taking a long position in SCO. Take an initial position should it close lower than Friday’s closing price. SCO seeks to replicate, net of expenses, twice the inverse daily performance of the Dow Jones AIG Crude Oil Sub-Index.

No new stock trading ideas were triggered yesterday afternoon.

We’re active in current trades as detailed in previous posts, and just waiting for exit signals to trigger.

All trades are based on the strategies found in the book by Larry Connors: High Probability ETF Trading, except where noted.

ETF Trading – XLI, SIJ, IYR, SRS

XLI closed higher, yesterday. And even though it closed above it’s 200 day moving average (in violation of the guidelines set forth in High Probability ETF Trading), this etf, nevertheless, looks overbought and due for a correction.

The same applies for SIJ (inversely).

I added the 50 day moving average on the charts – I find the MA(50) helpful in finding the sub-trend of the larger trend and direction of the stock price.

Take a look at IYR today. Should it close higher, I might short the stock. You could also take a long position in SRS (the double inverse etf). On a related note, read this post by Mike Shedlock. I really don’t think real estate is going to get better any time soon.  Your thoughts?
